Chen's has launched "From the Michelin Kitchen", a limited-time menu inspired by Chef Chen Kentaro from the MICHELIN-starred Shisen Hanten. Diners can enjoy selected favourites from Shisen Hanten, including the renowned Crab Roe Ramen and Banbanji, now available in a more casual dining setting.

Banbanji $5.90

We started with the Banbanji, a light appetiser that was simple yet packed with flavour. The chicken was tender and juicy, while the creamy sesame sauce was fragrant with a gentle hint of spice that lingered pleasantly without overpowering the dish.

Crab Roe Ramen $22.90

Next was the Crab Roe Ramen. The noodles had a satisfying bite and were evenly coated in a rich, savoury sauce. The fresh crab added natural sweetness that complemented the crab roe beautifully, while a touch of vinegar balanced the richness and elevated the overall flavour.

Szechwan Twice-Cooked Pork Belly Don $18.90

We also tried the Szechwan Pork Belly Don, which delivered a well-balanced combination of savoury, smoky and mildly spicy flavours. The pork belly was tender, and the cabbage added a refreshing crunch that contrasted nicely with the richness of the meat.

Mapo Tofu $11.90

Of course, we couldn't skip the signature Mapo Tofu. The silky tofu paired perfectly with the rich, flavourful sauce, offering a satisfying depth of umami and a numbing Sichuan spice that gradually built with every bite.

Overall, this limited-time menu brings some of Chef Chen Kentaro's signature flavours from Shisen Hanten to Chen's in a more approachable setting. If you're looking to enjoy Michelin-inspired Sichuan cuisine without the fine dining price tag, this collaboration is well worth checking out.
